Yoroniku - Yakiniku, Tokyo, Japan
I had heard through the grapevine Yoroniku was one of the better yakiniku places. With a mighty 4.2/5 rating on tabelog, this was definitely a popular destination for locals too. We made our booking a week or so in advance, and they were definitely full on a Friday evening.
We were served by a friendly waitress who spoke perfect English - they grill your meat here for you so you don't overcook anything!

Assorted kimchi - cucumber, radish and cabbage (¥1000) |
Nothing unordinary, I found this to be fairly pricey however given the portion. It's only cabbage and cucumber and turnip after all!

Togarashi (inner thigh) (¥2500) |
![]() |
togarashi - after grilling, so tender! |
Our waitress recommended this as one of the leaner but super tender cuts. I don't think I've ever had inner thigh of land animal before, but it was delicious! This was more tender than the marbled sirloin, with slight chew to it.

silk rose (¥1800 for 2) |

silk rose grilled lightly, on a ball of rice. |
As you can see in its marbling, this melted in your mouth with the ball of rice.

Sirloin (¥3500) |
Like no other piece of sirloin I've had. Incredibly fatty yet flavourful. Comes with garlic chips, flaked sea salt, sprout salad, and grated radish in light soy sauce.

Zabuton (chuck roll) - served with egg yolk and house bbq sauce (¥2800) |
This cut was served with a sweet soy sauce and quails egg yolk for you to dip into sukiyaki-style after the meat is slightly grilled. Much more flavour, from the sweet sauce and definitely melts in your mouth too.

Cold somen (¥1000) |
To end our meal we finished with a cold somen, which was very refreshing and the noodles were perfectly cooked with a slight chew. If only our somen at Molecular Tapas Bar had the same texture!
This was a faultless meal which we thought was well worth its price. Everything we had was premium A5 grade Wagyu from Yamagata prefecture. For about HK$500 where would you find this kind of quality in Hong Kong?!
