My stay in Providence was unforgettable, many thanks to P. Everyday was packed from breakfast to parties at night... but given this is a food blog, below is a collection of quick bites we took between activities.
Soft tacos from Baja's Burritos - Choose any three from 7 choices of fillings (US$6.49)- I had pulled pork, buffalo chicken and grilled veggies |
Pastiche - a slice of their famous fruit tart - the custard underneath was divine! |
This European style dessert/pastry cafe is always full - they have a good range of cakes, tarts, cookies and pastries to make any sweet tooth happy!
Haven Brothers food truck |
After a night out....this amazing food truck was parked around the corner... just what we needed!
They sell a wide selection of burgers, hot dogs, fries... all customizable and made to order. The back of the truck has a table where customers can eat standing. OR you could just do what we did and eat standing on the streets - people won't look at you funny, promise!

My simple-looking burger with onions, bacon and BBQ sauce |

Pane E Vino is one of the popular Italian places around town. Rightfully dim, their decor goes suitably well with their family-friendly traditional Italian cuisine....
"Pesce all'acqua pazza" aka fish of the day with tomato sea broth, escarole and durum wheat grano |
veal scaloppine with mushrooms, marsala wine demiglace, greens and herb roasted potatoes ((US$29) |
The bread basket was fantastic here, served with quality EVOO and ricotta. My favourite dish that night was definitely the risotto al frutti di mare (not photographed) which had beautiful seared scallops!
One fine day we started craving Asian food. We ended up at Pho Horn where they do a mean pho and fried tofu with house-made peanut dip.
summer shrimp rolls |
lightly coated fried tofu with their house peanut sauce |
pho toppings |
beef pho |
and after all that (amazing) food... i'm out!
